Abebe Fekadu Profile

From refugee to powerlifting champion, Abebe Fekadu’s story is truly remarkable.
Originally from Ethiopia, Abebe’s father was taken by the government and executed, accused of being anti-revolutionary. As an adult, Abebe became involved in secret pro-democracy meetings. One such meeting was discovered by the police in 1996. He fled in his car and a high speed chase ensued, throwing him from the vehicle and causing him to break his back.
His astonishing journey eventually led him to his new home, Australia, where he has now become an integral part of the APC’s powerlifting team.
