“I’m LGBTQIA+ and I stand for our rights” – Edênia Garcia | Para Swimming | Paralympic Games

Edênia Garcia, three-times Paralympic medallist, talks about Pride Month: “A lot of people that are LGBTQIA+ struggle. They haven’t found out who they’re yet. It took me 29 years to admit to myself that I wanted to have a relationship with a woman. So I guess if I do that, other people will feel free to do it as well.”

The International Paralympic Committee’s vision is to make for an inclusive world through Para sport. Our mission is to lead the Paralympic Movement, oversee the delivery of the Paralympic Games and support members to enable Para athletes to achieve sporting excellence.
